Harry potter has to prevent Lord Voldemort from stealing the Philosopher’s stone. That’s why the title of the book is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone.

Description of the main characters
Harry Potter: The main character of the story, he’s 11 years old. He lives with his aunt and his uncle. He is really famous in the wizard world, but he is treated badly by his aunt and uncle.

Ron Weasly: Harry Potter’s best friend, Ron meets Harry in the train to Hogwarts. Hogwarts is the wizardry school where Ron, Harry and Hermione go.

Hermione Granger: Hermione Granger is a smart girl, with “non-magic” parents. She argues a lot with Ron.

Setting of the action
A part of the story happens at Privet Drive 4 (Harry’s home) and the other part of the story happens at Hogwarts. In the story isn’t told where Hogwarts is.

Time of action
The story starts at November 1, 1981.

Theme of the book
Harry lives with his aunt, uncle and his nephew, because his parents were murdered by Lord Voldemort. His aunt and uncle are very unkind to him, and he has to sleep in a cupboard under the stairs. One day, a letter arrives for Harry Potter. When uncle Vermon sees that letter, he takes it and he reads it. Aunt Petunia and uncle Vernom’s greatest nightmare is becoming true; Harry got a letter from Hogwarts. His aunt and uncle want to be normal, and don’t want anything unnatural in their lives, like magic. Uncle Vermon burns the letter so that Harry wouldn’t see it. Every day they are getting more letters form Hogwarts, and eventually Harry manages to read one. The
half-giant Hagrid helps Harry to buy wizardry equipment and Harry goes to Hogwarts. At Hogwarts Harry meets Ron and Hermione and have a lot of adventures. Like when a mountain-troll gets in the school and Harry, Ron and Hermione manage to defeat it. And the biggest adventure is when Lord Voldemort wants to steal the Philosopher’s stone, a stone that will give the owner eternal life. And it is at Hogwarts. Harry wants to prevent Lord Voldemort from stealing it and he defeats Lord Voldemort. But Lord Voldemort isn’t dead, he gets away and will meet Harry again in chapter 2.
